Georgii Cherkin performs Für Elise for piano and symphony orchestra.
About the arrangement
An intimate piano miniature takes on the colours of the concert orchestra. Georgii Cherkin’s arrangement places Beethoven’s familiar melody within a setting of woodwinds, horn, percussion and strings, bringing a wider range of timbres to the music while keeping the piano in the foreground.
The orchestral writing adds warmth, contrast and a sense of dialogue around the solo part. The result invites listeners to rediscover the tenderness of Für Elise through the changing colours of a symphonic ensemble.
